The Architects Collective (TAC) is a group of designers working collaboratively to enrich the lives of people through the practice of architecture.  Each member of the collective applies their unique perspective, skills, expertise and creative approach to the process of analysis, design and implementation of projects.  By working in a collective, both the design process and the results are rich and multi-layered.  The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

Located in Inglewood, California, TAC works collaboratively with real estate developers, landscape architects, engineers and government agencies to design places of dwelling.  Drawing inspiration from the mild climate and diverse cultures of Los Angeles, TAC aims to design buildings that are engaged with the urban fabric, rooted to the immediate site, interactive with natural phenomena, engender community and facilitate meaningful interactions between people.

All people deserve a decent place to live.  TAC works with project owners to design mixed-use and multi-family projects that are both affordable housing and market-rate.  We apply decades of design and construction experience to studying, testing and enhancing the qualities that make successful built environments.

Our apartment buildings strive to accomplish more than housing people.  They engage with and enhance the neighborhood and engender community.  When people interact with their neighbors pride in the community grows.  Inside of the home we are concerned with the flow and function of the spaces, natural light, fresh air, and energy efficiency.  A well-designed home brings safety, dignity, comfort, pride and joy.  In addition to socially responsible design, we believe in sustainable environmentally responsible design. Our portfolio includes five LEED Platinum and two LEED Gold apartment buildings.

In our affordable housing projects, community-supportive programming and services are embedded in the project to various extents.  Programming may include:  arts, crafts, exercise, and education.  Embedded service providers deliver discreet and complimentary services to support people to make positive changes in their lives.

The Architects Collective is led by Richard Prantis, AIA, LEED AP. Projects by TAC have been recognized with design awards by the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), American Institute of Architects (AIA), Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), American Planning Association-Los Angeles (APA-LA), American Planning Association-California (APA-CA), Los Angeles Business Council (LABC), Pacific Coast Builders Conference (PCBC), 55+ Housing Council and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
